WHO CAN BENEFIT:
The Ideal Candidates
Both men and women can benefit from the Medically Supervised Metabolic Weight Loss program at Luminary Health, especially those who need to drop 50–100 pounds or more. We do not accept women who are currently pregnant or nursing. However, the program may be a valuable tool for postpartum weight loss.
Patients who need to drop less than 15 pounds may participate, following the protocol for at least 21 days. The program is also successful for people who have had difficulty losing those final few stubborn pounds while following a regular diet and exercise regimen.

OUR APPROACH TO WEIGHT LOSS
Initial Consultation
Your first step is an in-depth discussion with our licensed physicians. We review your weight loss goals and your current health status to create a tailored program based on your needs.
Weekly check-in appointments provide accountability and ongoing support.
Setting the Foundation for Success
Before beginning the program, we perform metabolic and hormone blood work to understand your body’s requirements. Testing may include thyroid health, hormone levels, dietary sensitivities, insulin levels, and inflammatory markers.
Results guide the development of your customized plan. The cost of testing may vary depending on pre-existing conditions and overall health.
Watch the Weight Fall Off
Once you begin, results can occur quickly. With consistency, online support, and a personalized plan, weight loss progresses steadily. As you approach your goal weight, you may notice increased energy, better-fitting clothes, and overall health improvements.
Changes that Last a Lifetime
Unlike crash diets, Luminary Health’s approach is designed for long-term results. Your personalized plan addresses underlying contributors to weight retention and supports sustainable habits.
Regular follow-ups help maintain results and support a healthier long-term lifestyle.
Your journey starts with one consultation.
Our Range of Scientifically Backed Weight Loss Tests
Metabolic Hormone Prescription: Targeted Support for Optimal Results
Bio-identical hormones such as estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, human growth hormone, thyroid, and metabolic hormones may be prescribed based on your needs. These are selected to correct imbalances and support metabolic function.
Prescription Medications Used for Weight Loss
Due to Health Canada regulations, we are unable to list specific medications or hormones online. For more information, call 604-216-3320 or email office@luminaryhealth.ca.
Dexa Body Fat Scan: Assessing Progress & Health
A Dexa Body Fat Scan may be recommended for patients who want to reduce 50 pounds or more, or for those over 50. This scan measures bone density and fat-to-muscle ratio to help assess progress and guide adjustments.
Detoxification & Metabolic Nutritional Support
Detoxification and metabolic nutritional support help remove toxins stored in fat, regulate blood sugar and cravings, and support muscle retention. Supplements and nutritional guidance are tailored to optimize fat loss while preserving muscle mass.
Required Supplementation
Supplementation may include protein drinks, liver and kidney support, blood sugar support, digestive enzymes, amino acids, multivitamins, probiotics, and fiber. IV vitamin drips, MIC/B12 injections, and NAD+ injections may also be recommended to address deficiencies and support energy and recovery.
Blood Testing & Body Scan
Blood testing evaluates blood sugar, thyroid and cortisol function, hormone balance, and inflammatory markers. Body scans assess bone density, muscle mass, and body fat to track progress accurately.
EXPECTATIONS AND GUIDELINES
How Long Does It Take to Lose Weight?
Patients may lose between 0.5 and 3 pounds per day, with an average of 1–2 pounds per day. Increasing vegetable intake and focusing on quality protein, including salad at each meal, can support faster progress.
Consuming adequate fiber and water is essential. Those needing to lose more than 40 pounds may require multiple program cycles.
Exercise and Activity: Important Considerations
Exercise is generally not recommended during the first week, as calorie intake is optimized for fat reduction. After the first week, light activities such as walking, yoga, or 20 minutes of cardio may be added.
If more intense exercise is introduced, calorie and protein intake will be adjusted to preserve lean muscle. Exercise plans should be discussed during your initial consultation.
Transition and Maintenance: Sustaining Long-Term Success
After the three-week Metabolic Therapy Phase, you transition to the Balance Phase, gradually reintroducing complex carbohydrates such as fruits and starches over approximately three weeks.
Careful monitoring during maintenance is important. Foods that trigger weight gain may be paused and reintroduced later. Ongoing medical check-ins and possible B12 or fat-burning support may be recommended during this phase.
